An AED Trainer for masses in Hindi to overcome language barrier during CPR training. To overcome this problem, I have made this AED trainer “PUNAESPANDAN” which gives instructions in Hindi and English.The language Can be customized to other regional languages also to suit the region CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) is an Emergency Lifesaving Procedure, performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.Chances of survival decreases by 7-8% per minute .So timely action is very important as after 12-13 minutes chances of survival are negligible.
- Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death worldwide, and most of them occur out of the hospital(70%).
- Ideally CPR should begin within three to five minutes of the person’s collapse. But it is not possible for medical personnel to reach all the victims within time.
- CPR by bystanders may increase the chance of survival two to three times if they acts quickly and provides CPR.
- In developed countries about 46% people receive bystander CPR , however in our country <1% people get it
- Many cardiac arrests are precipitated by lethal heart arrhythmias and in these cases, it is the shock to the victim's chest and not CPR that will reverse the lethal arrhythmia.
- This shock is delivered by Automated External Defibrillators (AED) which is a small, portable device that can assess a person’s heart rhythm and deliver a life-saving electric shock, if necessary.

- The pads have an embedded ‘switch’ which senses that the AED Trainer pads are attached to the manikin torso.
